National Deaf LGBTQ Awareness Week (aka #DeafLGBTQWeek and #DeafQueerWeek) is a project of the Deaf Queer Resource Center. It launched in 2018 with the goal of uplifting, supporting and bringing more positive visibility to our multiply-marginalized Deaf queer and trans communities, especially our youth. One of our goals is to see National Deaf LGBTQ Awareness Week eventually celebrated at all our Deaf schools.

As many Deaf schools observe Spring recess during different weeks in March and April, #DeafLGBTQWeek alternates between the 2nd and 3rd week in April each year and begins on Monday.

If you’re on social media, follow the hashtag #DeafLGBTQWeek to discover community posts and help others find yours during this fun and inspiring week.

2026 Note: We are moving away from Meta (Facebook, Instagram). While we will continue to maintain a presence there for the time being, we will be spending the majority of our social media time and energy on Pixelfed and Upscrolled, platforms that better align with our values. Find us there at @deaflgbtqweek and @deafqueer.
